Have your ever entered a contest that involved more than a "random chance" for winning, where you actually could "earn" the prize?As a young person with a paper route, I had the opportunity to win a trip to the mountains. Whoever got the most subscriptions door-to-door won the prize. I took the contest seriously and you guessed it - I was one of 400 kids that "won" the trip to Lake Tahoe... Wow, the first time in the snow... I was ecstatic!
As a young person, this incentive made several profound impressions upon me:
- It taught me ... A Sense of responsibilty. I began to understand the importance of being consistant with the work I had to do.
- It inspired me ... To strive towards the goal I had set, and to accomplish what I had determined to do.
- It opened me up to people ... By causing me to interact with people in my neighborhood as I went door-to-door, for subscribers. The time spent with my parents, working on a project together, was special to me... and to them also.
- It was rewarding ... When I realized that I had actually accomplished what I had set out to do and was being rewarded for being diligent. I could hardly believe it... I was going to see the mountains.
Along these same lines, Masterpeace is offering the "Island Impact" - Send A Child To Hawaii program, to young people from all over America. This special opportunity to travel to Hawaii will become a reality for anyone who becomes a "Support Crew" Member.Not only will they travel to Hawaii, free, but through their efforts the "HIGH IMPACT" program will be able to help young people in need... those who may not be able to help themselves.
