In working with young people, the "Astor" provided a very unique way to teach: Teamwork, Camaraderie, Respect, and other character - building principles, while sharing in the thrilling experience of sailing. The ocean activity helped to relax defenses, truthfully giving each a clearer insight into themselves... and for many, the sailing trip became a life-changing experience (see testimonies).

The "Astor" was an intricate part of the MasterPeace program to spotlight the needs of young people... to rally help from the community... to directly interact, teach, and prepare them for new challenges in their lives.

In addition, the yacht has played a vital role as a healing and restoration center for visiting performers... and other creative people involved in our MasterPeace Communications concerts, television, radio, and other productions in Hawaii.
